Our History

Jesus said,
“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these.”
– Matthew 19:14

Children’s ministry is an important component of the missionary vision of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and our Little Lambs Preschool celebrates a number of milestones:

  • 2001 – A Committee was formed to begin planning for a preschool.
  • 2005 – The preschool was dedicated to our Lord and Savor with a Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. Our first class was for 3-year-olds, Preschool 3’s, meeting on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
  • 2008 – A second class for older 3-year-olds and young 4-year-olds, Preschool 4’s, was add meeting Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
  • 2015 – Little Lambs Preschool became fully accredited by the NLSA (National Lutheran School Association) of the Lutheran Church.

The Accreditation Process validates that Lutheran early childhood centers meet National Standards for excellence in Christ-centered goals, curriculum, facilities, health & safety as well as teacher communication. The process includes a rigorous self-evaluation of programs and procedures based upon these standards as keys to developing future improvement plans.

  • 2017Summer Camp classes for 3 to 5-year-olds were added to extend learning across the summer months and to allow opportunities for past, present, and future students and families to connect with one another.
  • 2017 – A toddler program for 2-year-olds, Preschool 2’s, was added along with an options fourth day to Preschool 4’s called “Further Fridays”.
  • 2019 – Further Fridays is replaced with the 5-day a week Jr. Kindergarten class!

All Thanks and Praise to God Our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ for blessing The Little Lambs Preschool at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Tacoma with a quality preschool program where children are loved and nurtured in the Gospel of Grace. †
